VAPT SCHOOL BUS
SAFETY ROAD-E-O
2018 ROAD-E-O
The VAPT is pleased to announce
our annual School Bus Road-E-O. It
will take place on Monday June 18, 2018 at
the Bergland Center, 710 Williamson Road NE,
Roanoke,
Virginia 24016 (Roanoke Civic Center). This
year's events will include conventional
style bus and special needs bus
competitions.
Update:
-
The wheel chair loading/unloading and
securement events have been eliminated
from the special needs competition.

The special needs competition is now a
driver only event.
-
A measurement has been added to the
back-up event from the rear barrier.
Reminders:
-
Please inform your participants that
they should check-in at the Road-e-o
site, no later than 30 minutes prior to
the start of the event. THe competition
will begin promptly at 8:00 AM.

Localities registering participants in
the competition are requested to provide
one or more judges.

Please complete the entry form with
contestants and judge information and
forward to Sherry Murphy (York County),
no later than Friday, June 1, 2018, at
smurphy@ycsd.york.va.us
Trophies will be presented to first, second
and third place winners from each event
(conventional, special needs).
First place contestants will be eligible to
participate in the 48th Annual "NSTA School
Bus Driver International Safety Competition"
which is to be held on Suday, July 22, 2018
in Philadelphia,PA.

2017 ROAD-E-O
The Virginia Association for Pupil
Transportation (VAPT) is pleased to announce
that the annual VAPT School Bus Road-e-o
will take place on Monday June 19, 2017. The
location site for the event will be Bird
Neck Elementary School in Virginia Beach,
Virginia.
VAPT will sponsor the Conventional and
Special Needs Roadeo during the annual state
conference in June.
Reminders:
Please inform your contestants that they
will need to register at the road-e-o
location site 30 minutes prior to the event
starting. Road-e-o competition will start
promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Localities with entries in the competition
are asked to provide one or more judges.
Please complete the attached entry form with
contestant and judge’s information and
return to Sharon Utley no later than Friday
June 9, 2017.
VAPT Changes:
It has been decided to eliminate the
Transit competition from this year’s Roadeo.
Trophies will be presented to first, second
and third place winners from each event
(conventional, special needs) following
completion of the Road-e-o. The first and
second place winners will be eligible to
participate in the national event, which
will be held on July 16 in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
